Description

type:Departmental Bulletin Paper

Ceramide 2-aminoethylphosphonate (CAEP), sphingomyelin (Sph) and cerebroside (CMS) as the major sphingolipids were purified from the skin of the jumbo flying squid Dosidicus gigas and their chemical structures were characterized. The fatty acid compositions of CAEP and Sph consisted mainly of C16:0 acid, but CMS contained C16:0, C22:0 and C24:1 acids. The sphingoid components of Sph and CMS were C16:1 and C18:1 dihydroxybases, but those of CAEP were C16:1, C18:1 and C19:3 dihydroxybases.
