- Music Education to Enrich Human Nature : Study of Hungarian music education starting from children's play Songs and examples of practicing music education in Japan

Description
The purpose of music education is said to represent expression of emotions and usually emphasis is put on the musical skills. However, I think that the academic research and the understanding arts and culture are the bases of human education, laying the foundation for a rich future for mankind. Since the 3.11 earthquake and the nuclear accident in 2011 in Japan, there has been a great need for human understanding and human bonds again. In this situation, Music Education to enrich human nature has come into prominence in Japan. In this paper I will use two studies to reveal how specifically music education, as human education, can help Japanese music educators: 1. two presentations and the Children's play songs workshops; and 2. contents of the two consultations. Hungarian educator, Márta Pajor's presentations and workshops were presented at the conference of the Japanese Music Education Society in 2012 which were one of the best examples from Hungary where music education as the viewpoint of human education by Zoltán Kodály's philosophy. The others are the contents of the two consultations which were planned and coordinated by Furiya Miyako. Ten panelists took part. They reported about their own practices from primary schools to university classes and school for the disabled. These reports are very beneficial for actual music education now in Japan, and the future direction of music education and method of teaching. The important points of these discussions were: four. These points are no.1. is traditional materials, no.2. is creativity, no.3. is comprehensiveness and dramatization and no.4. is learning and helping each other. We should develop Japanese music education to enrich human nature for the development of mankind.
