Abstract

We examine the behavior of vortices in superconducting thin films next to moats by numerical analysis using the time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau (TDGL) equation. In particular, we investigate the trajectory, velocity and acceleration of vortices in superconducting thin films after the transition to superconductors. It is found that the exclusion trajectory and acceleration differ depending on the position of the vortex generation. Vortices which were generated out of the region between two extended lines from the short sides of the moat, were excluded in the trajectory approaching the extended line into the moat. In contrast, vortices which were generated inside the region between two extended lines, were excluded with drawing trajectory vertical to the moat. The acceleration was smaller for the vortex generated out of the region of between the extended lines, as the position became farther from the extended line, whereas it was independent to the position along the long side of the moat for the vortex generated between the extended line.
