Many countries promote tourism as a means of economic gain and growth. The tourism industry hasbeen successful to such an extent that some areas are now experiencing overtourism. This articleoverviews what overtourism is, the causes, the impacts, initiatives to address and remedy the impacts,and what is happening in Japan.
