"Fukujyudou-Nenroku" (福寿堂年録) is the official document written by Yanagisawa Yoshisato (柳澤吉里:1687~1745). Yoshisato is the heir of Yanagisawa Yoshiyasu (柳澤吉保:1658~1714), Yoshiyasu is the top of 5th Tokugawa Shogun Tsunayosi's (徳川綱吉:1646~1709 reign 1680~1709) reign. In Tsunayosi's later years, Yoshiyasu was bestowed Kai land (甲斐国) by his lord Tsunayosi. In 1710, Tsunayosi passed away of the measles after only 10 days medical treatment. Yoshiyasu resigned his post (大老格), and yielded his position as head of the family to his eldest son, or Yoshisato. On the other hand, Yoshiyasu wrote the official document "Rakusidou-Nenroku" (楽只堂年録) in his days. "Fukujyudou-Nenroku" is the sequel to this, so to speak. "Fukujyudou-Nenroku" is constructed of 440 chapters, from the beginning witten in Jun. 1710 to the end in Jul. 1745. Because of "Fukujyudou-Nenroku" is on a grand scale, I can't report everything on one occasion, this time I reprinted from Jun.19.1710 to Aug. 30. and comment upon 12 topics. By the way, May. 1711, Yoshisato entered Kai land for the first time as the land lord. Yoshiyasu had to stay at Edo (or present Tokyo), and was always standing attendance behind Tsunayosi, but Yoshisato had to obey the system under which feudal lords in the Edo period were required to spend every other year in residence in Edo was the land lord. About 15 years after, Yoshisato was transferred to Yamato land (大和国), and to the end of the Edo period, Yanagisawa familys governed the Yamatokoriyama (大和郡山) clan for 5 generations.
