- Evaluating Permeability of Sand Sediment by Using In-situ Infiltration Test
Search this article
Abstract
Permeability of sand sediment that had been formed by debris flow was investigated. The Guelph pressure infiltrometer (GPI) method was employed to measure the field-saturated hydraulic conductivity of soil. The in-situ tests were conducted on the surface soil, and also on the soil excavated into about I m in depth. The test results showed that the permeability of the sand sediment soil was uniform in plan, while statistically not uniform in depth. It is confirmed that the GPI method may be effectively applicable to determine quickly and easily the permeability of sand sediment.
