This paper is analyzing lyrics of the songs written by Takashi Matsumoto, one of Japan's leading songwriters. He has released innovative lyrics that greatly change the concept of lyrics and has had a great influence on younger lyricists and singer-songwriters. This paper gives the characteristics of Takashi Matsumoto lyrics by comparison with other writers from frequency of words used in the lyrics.
