Description

This objective of this study is to propose a new drainage system comprising a water-saving system toilet and a simple horizontal branch pipe, which is applicable to future refurbishment of toilets and drainage systems connected thereto in office buildings. The study also examines the effectiveness of the proposed drainage system.This report first identifies the discharge characteristics and performance of a cistern toilet unit which is installed in a toilet booth, and confirms that a horizontal branch pipe for the toilet does not require installation of a loop vent pipe to prevent induced siphoning. Next, a simple yoke vent horizontal branch drainage system comprising a vent stack, a simple horizontal vent pipe and a drainage stack is proposed and tested to identify its drainage performance (design permissible flow rate). Finally, by matching the drainage performance of said system and drainage load calculation results, the scope of applicability of said system is examined.
