Description
The purpose of this paper is to find and discuss problems with the position of distance classes in the Japanese credit system after COVID-19, and to propose solutions to those problems. From the discussion at the time of institutionalization of the Standards for Establishment of Universities in the early 2000's and the current situation, we pointed out the necessity of rethinking the definition and classification of distance classes and face-to-face classes based on new pedagogical methods such as HyFlex classes. Next, we introduced Minerva University's practice as an example of solving those problems. Then, we proposed the following three ideas: 1) using the same classification and introducing a centralized adaptive management system, 2) adding a new classification such as "blended classes", and 3) replacing the current classification with a new classification based solely on time synchronism.
