Description
Distribution of six islet biased plants was studied in Nagasaki Prefecture, southwestern Japan. Six islet biased plants which have a distribution biased to islets and are found at few localities on the main islands, are Bauhinia japonica (Leguminosae), Carex matsumurae (Cyperaceae), Livistona chinensis var. subglobosa (Palmae), Paracyclea insularis (Menispermaceae), Pseudolysimachion sieboldianum (Scrophulariaceae), Smilax bracteata (Liliaceae). Most frequent occurrence of these plants was in Oshima, followed by Meshima. These islets are in the Danjo Islands which are located in the East China Sea, about 170km west of the Kyushu mainland.
