In the veneer cutting process, restraint caused by a pressure bar plays an important role, but few studies have dealt with the effects of depth of restraint (R) and the acting position of restraint (L) upon the cutting phenomena of veneer (Fig. 3(a)). Therefore, the main purpose of this report is to obtain quantitative information on these aspects. The variation of various factors on veneer cutting with R and L was made clear, and the relation of the cutting phenomena to them was discussed.
