説明

Kazahana （discontinued）, first published in May 1947, was a haiku magazine initially presided over by Teijo Nakamura （1900-1988）. The issuing office was located in the residence of Teijo Nakamura in Daita, and the haiku meetings were held at the 9th branch of the Setagaya ward office near Shimokitazawa Station, hence the journals activities were closely connected to Setagaya. 　　Hideko Suda was affiliated with Kazahana as a haiku poet in her later years. But in her early days she had contributed to various literary magazines as a minor writer: short novels for girls in Shojogaho, short novels in Seito, and short novels and essays in Shojochi, etc. under the pseudonyms “Miyuki Izawa,” “Yuki Hamano,” and “Hideko Ito.” Focusing on her work for Kazahana, this article looks at her life and describes how she was involved in haiku as a self-sufficient resident of Setagaya ward.
