覚せい剤事犯者について効果的な保護観察処遇を実施するためには、薬物依存の深刻さを評価し、薬物使用の背景要因を把握することが不可欠である。本研究は、保護観察対象者の薬物使用の頻度、薬物使用による社会生活への影響、薬物の使用についての態度や考え方を把握するために、質問紙を作成し、実施した。加えて、覚せい剤事犯者処遇プログラムの一環として、薬物使用の背景に焦点を当てて、保護観察対象者のライフヒストリーを聴取した。その結果、薬物乱用質問紙の実施とライフヒストリー聴取は、保護観察官にとって、新たな情報の収集、保護観察対象者への理解の深化、保護観察処遇実施上の留意事 項の明確化が可能となり、同時に、保護観察対象者の自覚を促進するという処遇効果が認められた。

It is necessary to assess substance dependence and the history of drug use for the treatment of stimulant offenders placed on probation or parole. The present study developed a drug abuse questionnaire to evaluate the frequency of drug use by probationers/parolees, its influence on their social life, and their cognition of substance abuse. The authors, as probation officers, also interviewed stimulant offenders about their life stories, focusing on the background of the substance use. We found that using the drug abuse questionnaire and life history interviewing enabled probation officers to obtain more information about, gain a better understanding of, and develop superior treatment planning for their probationers and parolees, as well as improve the stimulant offenders' recognition of their drug problems.
