説明

The results of Ochanomizu University's Comparative Survey of Academic Behavior conducted in the 2017-21 academic year are summarized. This was a web-based survey that asked 80 questions about various behaviors and attitudes related to academic learning and study in terms of experience, growth, satisfaction, hope, and number of hours spent, and collected self-assessments from students. Over the past five years, 12 to 24 universities have conducted this survey every year for the first and third grades under the same conditions. For each question, except for the number of hours spent, we used the average for each grade level at each university to establish a benchmark for each question. Benchmarking was based on a five-number summary of maximum, upper quartile, median, lower quartile, and minimum values, and the range and values were ranked from AA to DD. By examining the year-to-year changes in these rankings, the characteristics of students' academic behavior at Ochanomizu University were captured and examined from the perspective of internal quality assurance of education. In all question groups, we found a wide range of ratings from AA to DD, from the maximum to the minimum, in the comparison among universities. This is probably a different result from the introspection within the university. For the past five years, about 70% of the questions on academic satisfaction have received responses in the satisfactory range, and evaluations of the quality of teaching have consistently received high benchmark rankings. Thus, we are not in a position to face any major challenges. However, there are some partially comparatively inferior grading items. These are issues that can be resolved relatively easily and require immediate action.
