Description

application/pdf

The purpose of this study was to investigate the determinants of student ratings of teaching. Ninety-three undergraduate students took part in a survey by completing a questionnaire. The analyses were conducted according to the data (Makino, 2002a). The data was analyzed through multivariate analysis. The results of the path analysis are as follows : (1) "Evaluation of class contests" and "evaluations of teachers attitudes" were positively correlated with overall ratings of teaching and student satisfaction with the class. (2) "Evaluation of preparations for the class" and "evaluation of the standard for grade" had little effect on student ratings of teaching and satisfaction with the class. These findings suggested that the class contents and teachers attitudes in class were very important parts of student ratings of teaching. These findings supported Makino (2001c).
