Tanomura Tyokunyu is a great painter. He did excellent work in many fields, including modern Nanga, Sencha and art education. However, there is a lack of research to the contrary. In this paper, his life is summarized, the various roles he played are introduced, and it sets out a number of points of contention. It then develops an exploratory essay and offers perspectives for future research.
