This paper focuses on tow articles that based on Haruo Sato's experiences in Nanjing, Once Visited Nanjing and a unpublished short story Woman in Nanjing Yuhuatai. The tow articles shows the experience of alienation hidden in his trip to Nanjing and the desire to immerse himself in Nanjing that was born from it.　It is certain that the thought of Haruo Sato about the relationship between Japan and China under wartime is projected in the process of the re recognition of the former travel experience to the Nanjing drawn in Once Visited Nanjing and Woman in Nanjing Yuhuatai, but It should not be overlooked that these tow articles also included the question of the identity that he has consistently held before the war.
