Description

Currently, there are competing barriers between steps and gaps when wheelchair users get on and off railcars and other vehicles while moving around town or on public transportation. It is conceivable that many wheelchair users will continue to travel using various means of transportation. In another our study, geometric theoretical formulas were derived using wheel diameters, step and gap dimensions and step equivalent gradient angles of a self-propelled manual wheelchair. It is shown in this study that there is a limit in the performance of stepping and crevice clearance. In addition, it was shown that by using various techniques, it was possible to enhance riding performance and prevent wheelchairs from getting stuck. The front wheel manual wheelchair has been also upgraded to greatly enhance its ability to climb over steps and gaps, and developed a wheelchair with a new type of drive mechanism that makes it easier to get on and off railway vehicles. The wheelchair, it should be noted, is beyond the capabilities of ordinary electric wheelchairs and has been patented.
