Description
Hiroshima prefecture as a leading representative of the lemon producing regions promotes to raise the commercial value of the lemon for the fresh products market and food industry.The benefi cial effects of the dietary lemon can be attributed not only to the vitamin C, essential oils and organic acids,but also to the antioxidant activity of their fl avonoids, Recently, several studies highlighted lemon as an important healthpromoting fruit rich in phenolic compounds. This review focuses on the relevance of Citrus limon for nutrition and health,bringing an overview of what is published on the bioactive compounds of this fruit.
