Description
This study centres on the traditional culture of the two countries, Chinese painting and Japanese painting, and the proportion of the textbook as an entry point. The 2022 edition of China's Compulsory Art Curriculum Standards and Japan's School Education Law both include an emphasis on traditional culture. This shows the importance of traditional culture in China and Japan. Firstly, art education trends regarding Chinese and Japanese paintings in Chinese and Japanese art curriculum standards and study guides, as well as textbooks, are discussed. Secondly, a survey was conducted in Chinese and Japanese primary schools to summarise the results of the survey on children's awareness of learning Chinese and Japanese painting, to understand the actual situation of Chinese and Japanese painting education nowadays, and to analyse the differences between the concepts of art education in China and Japan. Finally, solutions are proposed based on the problematic points of Japanese painting education, and the necessity of raising the awareness of elementary school students to learn Japanese painting is examined while standing on the educational scene in Japan.
