In this study, we investigated the landing positions of rebound balls in 12 games starting from the quarterfinals of the 2023 Kanto University Women's Basketball Championship. The results suggested that 91.5% of rebound balls from 2-point shots and 3-point shots fell within the restricted area. This is largely due to environmental changes such as changes in court design, changes in rules related to the shot clock, and changes in the official game ball. Along with this, attacking tactics have changed significantly, with paint attacks that force the ball into restricted areas becoming the core of attacks, and teams have begun to consider highly efficient scoring methods with high probability. In this year's Kanto University Women's Basketball Players Tournament, the women's teams at each university are playing a highly efficient scoring pattern with a high probability, and the number of 3-point shot attempts has increased. In basketball instruction textbooks, it is stated that long shots (3-point shots) are likely to result in long rebounds15), but in this study, 78.0% of 3-point shots fell within the restricted area. It is falling. It was also suggested that when the offense captured the rebound ball within the restricted area, the rebound ball would be at a distance that would give them a chance to score. And 75.7% of the rebound balls fall in the area closer to the goal than the no-charge Sami circle in the restricted area. Furthermore, regarding the relationship between shot flight distance and rebound ball landing position, it was suggested that 78.9% of rebound balls from 3-point shots fall within the restricted area.
