2022年度の全学英語教育に関する報告

全学英語教育科(現人間力創成教育院・語学教育プログラム・英語)では、2010年度に教育理念・方針を策定して以来、それに沿って教育を行い、コロナ禍で遠隔授業となった2020年度を除き、その成果と課題について本誌で報告してきた。本稿では、授業内で実施した到達度確認テストと語彙テスト、実力テストの結果、および入学時に実施されるフレッシュマンテストの結果を中心に、2022年度の状況について報告する。なお、これまでも触れることのあった大学全体として取り組むべき2つの課題、すなわち学力差および出席率の問題についても、改めて焦点を当てて報告する。

Since 2011, the division of English Education(Language Education Program, English, School of General Education)has been providing education based on newly established policy as in reported in Ohkado et al.(2010). We have also been reporting the results of the new curriculum as measured by the combination of two existing tests and two newly created tests: the freshman test and the proficiency test; and the achievement test and the vocabulary test, with the exception of the year 2020 because relevant classes were all held online due to the spread of COVID-19 and the tests were not conducted in the regular fashion. In this paper, we report the results of English education based on our policy in 2022. We also touch on the two recurring and growing issues of(1)academic gap and(2)low attendance rates.
