Abstract

Orientation at training facilities is essential for nursing students to adjust to their new environments. The COVID-19 pandemic led to restrictions on facility tours as a type of training orientation at health service facilities for the elderly. To help students understand the environment of the health service facility for the elderly they were about to visit for the first time in such a situation, we conducted an in-facility orientation, in which a training supervisor wore a web camera, and transmitted images inside the facility in real time (web-based orientation). The subsequent analysis of training records and questionnaire responses revealed that the web-based orientation promoted students' deeper understanding of the facility environment, and increased their motivation for training. In the future, we will consider more effective training orientation while leveraging the advantages of online learning.
