Description

Shakespeare's development in histories could be traced in terms of his growing criticism of the imperfections in the system of monarchy. His central concern in King John is, therefore, to give expression his urgent need for an ideal order in an artistic form against the orthodox political cliches propagated by the Government and to show how the corruption of authority and power can lead to the anarchic collapse of the system of values and to the destruction of the meaningful human relationships.
