Diode lasers are widely used for laser devices in the field of dentistry. Meanwhile, indocyanine green (ICG) has been used in the medical field for testing and diagnosis as a photosensitizer for diode lasers. In this study, we examined the effects of diode laser irradiation combined with an experimental ICG-added caries-detecting dye solution on carious dentin, with a view to using diode lasers in caries management.The results of this study showed the possibility of using irradiation by a diode laser in combination with the experimental ICG-added caries-detecting dye solution in caries management, as the irradiated energy was absorbed on the surface and the Knoop hardness of the carious dentin was improved.
