<p>Four inner <italic>C</italic>-benzyl and <italic>C</italic>-xylyl-substituted cobalt(<sc>ii</sc>) complexes of a 2-<italic>N</italic>-substituted N-confused porphyrin were synthesized and the <italic>D</italic>-parameter is related to the structural parameters of the cobalt(<sc>ii</sc>) complexes.</p>
