<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>We investigated in vitro the reactivity of lycopene toward peroxynitrite and identified the reaction products after scavenging peroxynitrite. On the basis of these studies, we propose a mechanism for peroxynitrite scavenging action of lycopene.</jats:p>
