<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>A novel ratiometric fluorescent probe for esterase has been developed based on the SNARF scaffold. The new SNARF derivative was used to monitor the activity of porcine liver esterase by ratiometric emission spectrum change.</jats:p>
