Resistive Transition in EuBa<sub>2</sub>Cu<sub>3</sub>O<sub>7-y</sub> Epitaxial Thin Films

<jats:p> From the measurements of the resistive transition curves induced by a magnetic field for EuBa<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>Cu<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>7-<jats:italic>y</jats:italic> </jats:sub> epitaxial thin films, it is found that the resistivity ρ below <jats:italic>T</jats:italic> <jats:sub>c</jats:sub> scales as ρ(<jats:italic>T</jats:italic>) = ρ<jats:sub>0</jats:sub> exp{-<jats:italic>U</jats:italic> <jats:sub>0</jats:sub>[1-<jats:italic>T</jats:italic>/<jats:italic>T</jats:italic> <jats:sub>c</jats:sub>(<jats:italic>H</jats:italic>)]<jats:sup> <jats:italic>n</jats:italic> </jats:sup>/<jats:italic>k</jats:italic> <jats:sub>B</jats:sub> <jats:italic>T</jats:italic>}, where <jats:italic>n</jats:italic> = 2.5 for <jats:italic>H</jats:italic> ⊥<jats:italic>c</jats:italic> and <jats:italic>n</jats:italic> = 2 for <jats:italic>H</jats:italic> ∥<jats:italic>c</jats:italic>. This behavior is explained phenomenologically by the dissipation arising from the thermally activated motion of vortices in a temperature range near <jats:italic>T</jats:italic> <jats:sub>c</jats:sub>. Numerical fitting provides values for the mean-field upper critical fields as a function of <jats:italic>T</jats:italic>, which delineate straight boundaries in the <jats:italic>H</jats:italic>-<jats:italic>T</jats:italic> phase diagram. </jats:p>
