Methods for incomplete detection at distance zero

説明

Abstract
In conventional distance sampling (CDS) and multiple-covariate distance sampling (MCDS), the detection function is denoted g(y) or g(y, z) and detection at distance zero (y = 0) is certain: g(0) = 1 and g(0, z) = 1. In this chapter, we deal with detection functions in which detection probability at distance zero may be less than one. To distinguish these functions from CDS or MCDS functions, we denote the detection function p(y, z).
