<jats:p>Electrogenerated chemiluminescence at boron-doped diamond electrodes is reviewed for systems involving either co-reactants or the <jats:italic>in situ</jats:italic> generation of co-reactants, and tris(bipyridine)ruthenium(<jats:sc>ii</jats:sc>) or luminol, comprising immunoassay applications.</jats:p>
