<p>In the presence of catalytic amounts of vanadium-containing heteropoly acids, oxidative C–H cyanation of quinoline and its derivatives using trimethylsilyl cyanide and molecular oxygen efficiently proceeded, affording the corresponding substituted 4-cyanoquinolines as the major products.</p>
