Low-temperature selective aerobic oxidation of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone over n-type metal oxide-supported Au nanoparticles

Description

Abstract The catalytic activity of gold nanoparticles-loaded n-type semiconducting metal oxides (Au/n-MOs) for solvent-free aerobic oxidation of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone was studied at 70 °C and 1 atm. This work reports for the first time to the best of our knowledge that among the Au/n-MOs, Au/metal titanate (Au/MTiO3, M = Ca, Sr, Ba) exhibits high catalytic activity for the selective liquid-phase oxidation of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone even at such a low temperature. The catalytic activity of Au/n-MOs strongly depends on the kind of MO support, increasing with a rise in its conduction band minimum energy.
