<jats:p>(Zn<jats:sub>1−<jats:italic>x</jats:italic></jats:sub>Co<jats:sub><jats:italic>x</jats:italic></jats:sub>)<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>Nb<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>8</jats:sub> (0 ≤ <jats:italic>x</jats:italic> ≤ 0.50) were synthesized as novel inorganic violet pigments and the (Zn<jats:sub>0.80</jats:sub>Co<jats:sub>0.20</jats:sub>)<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>Nb<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>8</jats:sub> pigment has good potential to be an alternative to the conventional ones.</jats:p>
