<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>Femtosecond transient absorption dynamics of C60 nanoparticles in pure water revealed a strong quenching of the singlet excited state, independent of the excitation light intensity on a 10-ps time scale, and an extremely low yield of the triplet state of C60 nanoparticles upon photoexcitation.</jats:p>
