<jats:p><jats:list list-type="explicit-label"> <jats:list-item><jats:p>A self‐contained tangential flow filtration system was used to harvest, concentrate and wash suspensions of corynebacteria aseptically.</jats:p></jats:list-item> <jats:list-item><jats:p>Using two filter stacks each containing 15 × 0.6 nm filters, 60 l of culture could be concentrated to 8 l, thrice washed and harvested within a working day.</jats:p></jats:list-item> <jats:list-item><jats:p>Organism washing was efficient and no impairment of activity of harvested organisms was seen.</jats:p></jats:list-item> <jats:list-item><jats:p>Tangential flow filtration provides a simple rapid method for harvesting bacteria and their extracellular products aseptically from cultures grown on a production scale.</jats:p></jats:list-item> </jats:list></jats:p>
