Powder X-ray diffraction data for the new polymorphic compound ω-<i>Bi</i><sub>2</sub><i>O</i><sub>3</sub>

<jats:p>A<jats:italic>Bi</jats:italic><jats:sub>2</jats:sub><jats:italic>O</jats:italic><jats:sub>3</jats:sub>compound which is unknown to date has been synthesized at 800 °C on a BeO substrate. α-<jats:italic>Bi</jats:italic><jats:sub>2</jats:sub><jats:italic>O</jats:italic><jats:sub>3</jats:sub>at 800 °C undergoes a phase transition to a metastable new compound named ω-<jats:italic>Bi</jats:italic><jats:sub>2</jats:sub><jats:italic>O</jats:italic><jats:sub>3</jats:sub>which in turn transforms to stable δ-<jats:italic>Bi</jats:italic><jats:sub>2</jats:sub><jats:italic>O</jats:italic><jats:sub>3</jats:sub>at 900 °C. X-ray powder diffraction data were collected, indexed, and refined in order to obtain a unit cell (probable space group<jats:italic>P</jats:italic>1¯:<jats:italic>a</jats:italic>=7.2688(4),<jats:italic>b</jats:italic>=8.6390(6),<jats:italic>c</jats:italic>=11.9698(8) Å, α=87.713(6), β=93.227(6), γ =86.653(4)°. This compound is of interest for the thick films circuits and sensors technology.</jats:p>
