<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The Raman spectra of the EDA complexes of tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) with benzene and methyl‐substituted benzenes were measured using four output lines of Ar ion laser. Remarkable intensity enhancements were found by the complex formation for C  C and C  N stretching vibrations of TCNE. It was concluded from measurements of Raman intensities and depolarization ratio that the intensity enhancement is due to direct participation of the lowest charge‐transfer state of the complex in the intermediate states of Raman scattering.</jats:p>
