<jats:p>A new method is presented for analysis of the dynamic response of disordered particulate composites. The method consists of computation of the losses due to scattering by inclusions and subsequent application of the Kramers–Kronig relationships to derive the phase velocity of the wave. Explicit expressions are given for a porous elastic medium.</jats:p>
