Questionnaires for examinations using iodinated contrast media and their grades of recommendation: Japan Radiological Society/Japanese College of Radiology Joint Committee on Contrast Media Safety
Search this article
Description
If a contrast-enhanced examination using an iodinated contrast medium is to be performed, a questionnaire is commonly used to understand the patient’s condition to assess the risks associated with the use of the contrast medium. However, there is much uncertainty about evidence from questionnaires, and it is left to each medical institution to determine the questions and how patients should be asked. The Japan Radiological Society/Japanese College of Radiology Joint Committee on Contrast Media Safety (hereafter referred to as “this Committee”) listed and sorted the questions frequently asked in questionnaires on iodinated contrast media and determined whether there is literature to support each question. In addition, for Japanese package inserts for iodinated contrast media, this Committee sought to present the recommended questions prior to the use of iodinated contrast media with their grades of recommendation, using criteria that were as objective as possible.
