<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Difluoromethyltri(<jats:italic>n</jats:italic>‐butyl)ammonium chloride <jats:bold>1 </jats:bold>was found to be an effective difluorocarbene reagent for <jats:italic>O</jats:italic>‐, <jats:italic>S</jats:italic>‐, <jats:italic>N</jats:italic>‐, <jats:italic>C</jats:italic>‐difluoromethylation under basic conditions. It is particularly remarkable that, when only 1.2 equivalent of reagent <jats:bold>1</jats:bold> was used, the difluoromethylated products were obtained in moderate to excellent yields.</jats:p>
