<p>The cascade reaction involving a Michael–aldol or vinylogous Henry-acetalization relay is described. We have used the cascade reaction to assemble tetrahydronaphthalene- or isochroman-fused spirooxindoles and other drug-like spirocyclic scaffolds.</p>
