<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>This chapter forms a typology of intonational phrasing in Japanese dialects. The dialects are classified into four categories by means of two binary parameters: one distinguishes dialects with and without lexical tonal specification, the other distinguishes dialects with and without the Accentual Phrase that can contain more than one word.</jats:p>
