<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The solution properties of monodisperse four and six branch star‐polystyrene samples have been investigated by viscosimetry, osmometry and light‐scattering.</jats:p><jats:p>The ⊖ temperature measured by the temperature dependence of the second virial coefficient in cyclohexane is lower than 34.8°C and the expansion of the coil is decreased by branching.</jats:p><jats:p>The behaviour of the branched polymer is controlled by the number and the length of the branches and no unique relation exists between hydrodynamic and geometric parameters.</jats:p><jats:p>Average molecular weight data measured by light‐scattering are systematically lower than those obtained by osmometry.</jats:p>
