Hydrogen storage capability of MgNi2 processed by high pressure torsion

Description
Hydrogenation was undertaken in MgNi 2 after intense straining by the process of high pressure torsion (HPT). Despite the general acceptance that MgNi 2 is not a hydrogen absorber, quantitative analysis demonstrated that the HPT process introduced the capability of hydrogen storage in MgNi 2 . Although the total hydrogen content was not sufficient, the hydrogen storage performance clearly appeared in the MgNi 2 . XRD analysis suggested that the hydrogen should be present at grain boundaries.
