<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>A procedure is described which allows to prepare optical faces parallel to the <jats:italic>c</jats:italic>‐axis by processing bulk 2H‐PbI<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> crystals grown from the melt. Its effectiveness is checked by a simultaneous investigation of the reflection and photoluminescence spectra, whose main features compare well to former results obtained on cleaved or natural faces.</jats:p>
