<jats:title>S<jats:sc>ummary</jats:sc></jats:title><jats:p>A peat sampler is described which eliminates the more serious faults of the Hiller type. The samples obtained are free from distortion, readily accessible for measurement and examination and may easily be removed intact for transport to the laboratory.</jats:p>
