Regioselective <i>N</i>‐Alkylation of 2‐Aminoimidazoles with Alcohols to 2‐(<i>N</i>‐Alkylamino)imidazoles Catalyzed by the [Cp*IrCl<sub>2</sub>]<sub>2</sub>/K<sub>2</sub>CO<sub>3</sub> System

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The direct <jats:italic>N</jats:italic>‐alkylation of 2‐aminoimidazoles to give the corresponding 2‐(<jats:italic>N</jats:italic>‐alkylamino)imidazoles was accomplished using alcohols as alkylating agents in the presence of a [Cp*IrCl<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>/K<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>CO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> system. The iridium‐catalyzed regioselective reaction is simple, efficient, general, and environmentally benign.</jats:p>
