<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>It is found that the open‐circuit photovoltage of the PEC studied remarkably increases when the Pt‐coated n‐Si electrode is etched in NaOH to obtain a microscopically discontinuous electrode surface.</jats:p>
