Description

Abstract A quantitative model for the settling of a spherical body in a Newtonian fluid is developed and is applied to the distribution of phenocrystic olivine in a differentiated dolerite sill. Satisfactory agreement was obtained between the model calculation and the observed modal olivine distribution in the sill.
